President Trump mocked Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., on Sunday for a livestream she recently hosted from her kitchen, saying it would have been better received had she played up her claims to Native American ancestry.

"If Elizabeth Warren, often referred to by me as Pocahontas, did this commercial from Bighorn or Wounded Knee instead of her kitchen, with her husband dressed in full Indian garb, it would have been a smash!" Trump tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, he called the livestream a "catastrophe."

Warren posted the Instagram livestream last month from her Massachusetts home on the evening she officially announced she had formed a presidential exploratory committee. During the broadcast, she cracked open a beer, introduced her supporters to husband Bruce Mann and the couple's golden retriever, Bailey, and reflected on her day.

Warren was scrutinized for the appearance, with critics saying it rang false compared to how former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., have used social media to connect with voters.

Trump and Warren, the most prominent Democrat to take a major step toward a 2020 White House bid, have frequently clashed over the former Harvard Law School professor's insistence that she is part Cherokee and Delaware Indian. Last year, Warren released the results of a DNA test to address questions about her past claims that she has Native American ancestry, which had earned her the nickname "Pocahontas" from Trump. The results showed “strong evidence” that she had a Native American ancestor dating back six or 10 generations, suggesting she is between 1/64 to 1/1024 Native American, according to a Boston Globe report that obtained the results.
