In El Paso I don't think they have a Wall. Only a cyclone fence, so you may be right. One thing that probably helped lower the murder rate is the CHL Law passed in 1996....The gift that keeps on giving.....

I don't think it made a difference whether it was a wall or a fence, especially when it's topped with concertina wire. Hadn't considered CHL.. good catch. There is a correlation in the numbers.

In the 80's and 90's the Mexican Drug Cartels where fighting for control of smuggling routes thru the El Paso corridor and the violence did spill across the Border...If you lived across the Border from one of the most Dangerous Cities in the World wouldn't you want a barrier other than a river that at times looks more like a creek??....I know I would...

And they built a wall in El Paso. It didn't make any difference. Crime was already on the decline when the wall was built.

You must be one of those poor-mouth gringo's that live 1000+ miles from the southern border...you probably closer to the northern border....

Spent a decade living on the border, actually looking at it daily.
