Driving on the left

Post by Shred » Mon Aug 21, 2023 4:44 am

It comes from the era of horses and swords.
The sword hand is the right hand, so everyone travelled on the left side of the road, so they could defend themselves if needed.
Convention stuck in some countries.

Driving on the left is also statistically safer.

In the 1960s the British government paid for a study to work out the viability of switching over and driving on the right, the idea was abandoned because of cost and complexity.
