The British Antarctic Survey has documented the deaths of 10,000 penguin chicks as a result of climate change induced excess ice melt.
The chicks had not developed waterproof feathers and the means to swim when the ice melted under them.

Antarctic sea ice has gone from an average of 17 million square kilometres in the 1980s, to 2.2 million square kilometres today.
