David Ortiz, the legendary Boston baseball slugger, was reportedly shot Sunday night in the Dominican Republic, his home country.
“David Ortiz is injured in a confusing incident at the road Bar of Venezuela Avenue, Santo Domingo Este. The former baseballer was transferred to a health center for the moment unknown,” CDN 37, a Dominican news station, reported.

The news was confirmed by Ortiz's father, Leo Ortiz.
“They called me to tell me that David is injured and that they took him to a medical center, but they did not tell me how he is or exactly where he was transferred,” his father said.
Multiple reports say Ortiz was shot in the leg after an attempted burglary while he was "in an amusement center" in Santo Domingo.
At least one person has been arrested in connection to the shooting.
Ortiz, 43, retired from baseball in 2016.
