You won't take guns away from law-abiding US citizens. Keep dreaming

Re: Gun Buybacks Are a Joke
Worked here after Hungerford.
But after Dunblane the Blair government confiscated without compensation thousands of handguns, and when Broccoli air cartridge pistols were reclassified as firearms they either issued a firearms certificate, or confiscated without compensation.
Because there was no register of Brocock ACS type pistols to begin with a lot just 'disappeared'.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common:
They don't alters their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit the views.

We are of the rebellious variety over here on this side. Gun owners would not allow it

Gun buybacks are voluntary and they work fine in places that are not already so awash in guns that it hardly makes a difference, like the US.

After the Hungerford Massacre there were buybacks of self loading rifles.
After the Dunblane Massacre there were no buybacks, short barrelled pistols had to be handed in or deactivated.
There was no compensation.
The policy was grudgingly obeyed even though it cost law abiding licence holders thousands in some cases.
One of my friends had a friend who had to give up a Smith and Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum.
No compensation. He was absolutely gutted.
There's no doubt that Labour handled the situation badly.
They did a similar thing regarding Brocock Air Cartridge pistols, but with no pre existing licence system for those and no register, most of the pistols disappeared.
They cannot legally be sold.
A licence system was introduced for those however.
And I know people who have got a licence for Brocock type self contained air cartridge pistols.
Margaret Thatcher had the right idea regarding gun control.
Tony Blair did not.
