16 pupils 1 teacher and 15 injured all by a paedophile who shouldn't have had his firearms.

Thomas Hamilton wasn't a member of a gun club.
I know people who are in the shooting community who know people from the clubs in Scotland.
Thomas Hamilton was known to them and was not welcome, but the Police issued him with a firearms certificate with permits for 9mm and .357 Magnum.

His reason for adding .357 Magnum was "if the semi automatics jammed".
The only legal reason for having cartridge pistols were close protection officer / range shooting.
Hamilton was neither.

On a range, a jam is not an issue, you just strip, clean and service the weapon and then shoot targets again.
It isn't a race.

In Hamilton's case, he had no lawful reason for his guns, the Police cocked up.
And details were covered up.

In 1991 abuse by Hamilton was considered serious enough by Police to consider revocation of his FAC (firearms certificate), but again they cocked up and didn't revoke.

Specific details are classified and covered by the 100 year law.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common:
They don't alters their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit the views.
